Hot Springs is the strangest national park I've ever been to because it's not a park, it's a city built on top of the hot springs. Apparently in the 1800s it became a place of healing and people came from all over the country to bath in the healing waters. The park tour itself is actually a tour of one of the old bath houses, which was pretty interesting, but felt like it was straight out of a horror movie. Throughout the city are fountains shooting out the steaming spring water. I watched a number of people fill water jugs from the fountains because apparently people still believe the water has healing properties.
